About
the Region
The
Greater San Marcos Area is a diverse and growing region located
along the San Marcos River on the edge of the Texas hill country.
Situated half-way between Austin and San Antonio, Texas, Greater
San Marcos is an attractive place to live, work, and visit. The
area is home to the 30,000-student Texas State University, historic
downtowns, and two large outlet malls that draw people from as
far away as surrounding states and Mexico. The area’s thriving
business community includes leading companies such as Hunter Industries,
the Central Texas Medical Center, HEB, C-FAN, Wide-Lite Corporation,
Grande Communications, Thermon Manufacturing, and Butler Manufacturing,
to name a few.
